Who We Are

In this role, you’ll provide essential administrative and coordination support to the HR team while helping to create a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment for every associate, from their first day and beyond.

Why You’ll Love Working with Us

Join a supportive team where innovation and teamwork thrive! We prioritize a people-first approach, contribute to the community, take green initiatives, and focus on career growth with ample opportunities. Enjoy a prime location in the heart of downtown Halifax, close to everything!

  • Competitive Compensation & Bonus: Performance-based Equitable Compensation Plan, Generous Time Off, Comprehensive Insurance, RRSP Matching, Exclusive Hotel Discounts, etc.
  • The Extras That Matter: Staff meals, F&B discounts, and free access to our fitness center and pool.
  • Learning & Development: Career growth opportunities within SilverBirch and Marriott, plus access to our Learning Management System with over 3000 courses.
  • Workplace Wellness and Inclusion: Comprehensive resources including an active OH&S (JOSH) Committee promoting workplace safety, EFAP-accessible mental health support, inclusive DE&I initiatives, and accommodation practices that prioritize employee wellbeing and belonging.

What You’ll Do

  • Be the welcoming presence for new hires, supporting a seamless and memorable onboarding experience.
  • Assist with the day-to-day magic of the HR department – maintaining files, managing records, and keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.
  • Help coordinate the moments that matter: New Hire Orientation, Champions of the Quarter celebrations, thematic lunches, and other events that build our culture.
  • Support the recruitment process, from scheduling interviews to helping candidates feel at ease.
  • Responsible for payroll and benefits administration, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
  • Maintain training records and help support developmental initiatives for our teams.
  • Process HR-related invoices and purchase supplies, keeping our department equipped and organized.
  • Be a go-to resource for internal customers, providing prompt, caring, and accurate follow-up.
  • Uphold confidentiality with care and discretion in everything you do.

How You Excel

  • A diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 1–2 years of experience in an administrative or human resources role.
  • A natural organizer with a sharp eye for detail and the ability to juggle multiple priorities with grace.
  • Genuinely approachable, caring, and considerate – someone people feel comfortable coming to.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • The ability to work under pressure while maintaining a calm, positive presence.
  • Experience with payroll or benefits administration is a plus.

How We Thrive in Our Working Environment

  • Where You’ll Work:

You’ll be based in a comfortable, well-equipped office in the heart of downtown Halifax – but your impact will be felt across the entire hotel. Whether you’re preparing for New Hire Orientation or organizing a team celebration, your work will touch every corner of our property.

  • When You’ll Work:

This is primarily a daytime role, following a consistent schedule that supports work-life balance. While the hospitality industry is always humming, we believe in protecting time for rest and renewal. You’ll be part of a team that values hard work and balance in equal measure.
