Mr. Korol was named President of SilverBirch in February, 2017. Prior to that he led the Investment & Portfolio Management team in the capacity of Senior Vice President whereby he managed all dispositions, acquisitions, development and asset management activities at the Firm. Before joining SilverBirch, Mr. Korol co-founded Amadeus Property Partners, a private real estate investment fund focused on hotels, retail and multi-family properties in gateway markets throughout North America. He spent the formative part of his career at Apollo Real Estate Advisors (now Ares Management), where he was a Vice President focusing on equity and debt investing in all property types. Jonathan started his professional career as an Investment Banker with Merrill Lynch. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.
Mr. Rumlena was named Chief Financial Officer of SilverBirch in February, 2017 where he is responsible for financial management, reporting, taxation, treasury, forward planning, information systems and technology and risk management. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Rumlena held senior finance roles with SilverBirch since January 2009. Before joining SilverBirch, Mr. Rumlena spent two years with Quigg Development Corporation where he focused on finance, accounting and tax for residential and mixed used real estate development projects. Mr. Rumlena started his career and spent 8 years with KPMG LLP in Canada and Europe providing audit, tax and corporate finance services to clients operating in real estate, hospitality, private equity and financial services industries. He is a Certified Professional Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University.
Mr. Rajamahendran is a strategic human capital leader with over 20 years of experience driving key business results through collaborative development and management of the human capital function. Giri is adept at leading the full human capital function, including strategy development, organizational governance, talent management, total rewards, organizational design, change management and payroll. He has consulted in a variety of small and medium sized organizations within the hospitality, gaming, banking, real estate and life sciences industries and he began his career with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia.
Mr. Medland is a veteran of the hospitality industry. His career spans more than 35 years and includes working with world class brands such as Hilton, Marriott, Westin, Delta, Radisson, and Holiday Inn. Mark studied hotel and hospitality management in Germany where he also became a certified chef. He is a master in hotel operations having held many positions from Assistant Front Desk Manager, to Food & Beverage Manager, to General Manager, to Vice President Operations. In his current role as Senior Vice President – Asset Management he is responsible for 17 hotel properties across Canada including 6 SilverBirch Hotels and 11 Marriott- managed hotels. He is recognized for strong leadership and team building with an entrepreneurial approach and commitment in exceeding revenue, service and quality objectives.
Adam has more than 10 years of experience in asset management. His past experience includes the management of a portfolio of single family homes, multifamily, and commercial properties. Working with organizations such as DingFeng International Investment Limited and Berkshire Hathaway, Adam specializes in consulting and acquiring real estate investments. He obtained his education at the University of California, Davis.
Edward has extensive experience in hospitality and real estate finance, working for firms such as Goldman Sachs, Four Seasons, Holiday Inn, Archon Hospitality, Statler Hotels, and International Finance Centre Management Co. Edward holds a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration with a Minor in Real Estate and Concentration in Corporate Finance, and is a CFA Charterholder.
With 14 years of experience in accounting and financial analysis roles, Rob has worked with various ERP software applications. Prior to SilverBirch, Rob was a Financial Analyst with QLT and Sierra Wireless. He joined SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts in 2014 as a member of the team responsible for implementing Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Prophix as part of Project Fusion.
A progressive revenue manager with more than a decade of experience in hotel management and the travel industry, Rahul specializes in revenue management, financial reporting, forecasting and trend analysis for hotels operating under major franchise brands including; Marriott, Radisson and Delta.
Starting his career more than 10 years ago, in London, England, Karan has worked with multiple hotel brands including Delta and Radisson in operations and revenue management roles. As Director, Revenue Management, he is responsible for developing and implementing revenue management strategies for SilverBirch’s hotel portfolio.
As a service-driven IT professional with over 25 years of experience, Ian possesses strong technical, leadership and project management skills. Ian is responsible for maintaining and growing a scalable, reliable, secure and highly available computing environment and his work designing and implementing an infrastructure project was recognized as part of the 2015 Hospitality Technology Hotel Visionary Award.
Offering over 10 years of Human Capital experience, Melissa holds a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation and she has held various roles within the SilverBirch Human Capital team. She has experience working both at the hotel and corporate level and she was a part of the team that implemented a new payroll system (Avanti) as part of Project Fusion.
Norbert has more than 35 years of experience in hotel operations, management and accounting. Previous to Silverbirch Hotels & Resorts, Norbert worked with hotel groups such as Westin Hotels and CP Hotel. Since 2002 he has held various roles with SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts from a Hotel Controller to his current role as Director- Finance Shared Services.
As Director of Finance, Anita is responsible for overall financial reporting, tax compliance, treasury and accounting of corporate entities. Anita is a Chartered Accountant with ten years of finance, tax and accounting experience and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia. Before joining SilverBirch in 2015, Anita worked as a manager at Smythe LLP, a Vancouver based mid-sized accounting firm, where she provided audit, tax and business advisory services to a variety of public and private companies.
Eric is an experienced asset manager with a background in global real estate portfolios including hotels, resorts, residences, hotel condominiums and food and beverage ventures. Prior to SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts, Eric worked with IFA Hotel Investments as an Asset Manager based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He obtained his education in hospitality at Northwood University (Ecole Hoteliere de Montreux, Switzerland) and the Swiss Hotel Management School.
