Interview: Lisa Uhryn, Regional Sales Manager
I was born in Saskatoon, but grew up in a small picturesque town called Roblin, MB. I lived in Yorkton, SK for a couple years, before finally moving back to Saskatoon to attend the University Of Saskatchewan. I have lived here ever since and am proud to call this beautiful city my home. I began my career in the investment and banking industry, before soon realizing my passion was for sales and that I loved dealing with people. I worked as a beer rep and a pharmaceutical rep looking after two provinces prior to working for Silverbirch hotels and resorts as their Regional Sales Manager. I love to travel, meet new people and experience new things. My most notable experience was going down the 3rd most dangerous waterslide in the world in Costa Rica. It was a wild ride that went through the jungle and volcano! In my spare time I am involved with sports, teach aquafit, and like relax at the lake. I like to spend time with friends and family, but most of all I enjoy life and like to be happy!
SBHR: You have just joined the Hospitality Industry, which of our values helped you make the decision to join us in hospitality?
LU: I wanted to be with an exceptional company that was growing and forward thinking. SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts works towards growth of both hotels, but at the same time focuses on growth of the individual.
SBHR: What is the biggest contrast between the Pharmaceutical and Hospitality Industries?
LU: Working in the pharmaceutical industry sales were more focused on numbers and quantity rather than the client. The hospitality industry is more engaged with clients and develops strong relationships. I like going the extra mile to provide the client with an exceptional experience and all while having fun!
SBHR: What value is most important when you think about your role as Area Sales Manager?
LU: Building strong client relationships is vital. I want each client to have an exceptional experience by delivering service beyond what they expect. I wanted to be the trusted professional they can rely on to meet their needs and exceed their expectations.
SBHR: In your role you are working with different properties and teams. What value do you keep top of mind when juggling these different experiences?
LU: I like to focus on client needs and being there for them to provide them with what they need. Showing I care and my willingness go the extra mile above and beyond their expectations. By delivering service beyond what they expect, I have already developed relationships that have turned into repeat business!
SBHR: what do you “value” the most in your role?
LU: I value quality and engagement most in my role. I take pride in my work and want to deliver service beyond what is expected. I care about the client and will go the extra distance for them. Delivering an exceptional client experience key!
SBHR: Of all of our values, which one influences your day to day activities the most?
LU: Engagement. Looking after client needs and seeing them happy influences me most. I like to be engaged and show that I care. And best of all doing it while having fun!
