SBHR: What value is most important when you think about your role as Chief Engineer?
JT: Definitely Engagement! Mutual respect and treating everybody the way I would like to be treated. Be engaged, value others point of view to develop “Best Practices”. Represent the Brand and core values 100% of the time.
SBHR: In your role you are working with many different departments, partners, vendors and two different properties with dual brands. What value do you keep top of mind when juggling these different experiences?
JT: Integrity first and foremost: finding the solution to whatever situation you are presented with. Working as one spoke in a wheel to ensure dual brand growth and success are achieved.
SBHR: what do you “value” the most in your role?
JT: Autonomy. Open two way communications is key. We are working together as one unit and “do it well” to ensure top notch performance.
SBHR: Of all of our values, which one influences your day to day life the most?
JT: A combination of all really. Engagement with others to providing a quality experience to all stakeholders; a solid performance each and every day by one and all team members.
SBHR: Jon, you have just been involved in the opening of two new hotels virtually at the same time. What was the greatest challenge in this process?
JT: Logistics as you can imagine was the greatest challenge. Having separate communication and operating systems that run parallel as opposed to being linked and compatible. Ensuring that both are running smoothly and giving us the outcome we needed to open both hotels on time and efficiently.
SBHR: What will be the one thing you will always remember about the opening of these two beautiful hotels?
JT: The team hands down! This team has such energy! Experiencing everything together from the ground up will be something I remember always. This team worked together organizing tasks to meet our scheduled timelines; the team building happened daily. It is a great environment.
