SILVERBIRCH HOTELS & RESORTS ANNOUNCES NEW PRESIDENT AND CEO
VANCOUVER, BC (October 7, 2009) – SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts is pleased to announce the appointment of Steve Giblin as president and chief executive officer as of September 8, 2009.
After a thorough search of the most talented hospitality professionals across North America, SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts has secured a well-respected industry leader to position the company for further success.
Mr. Giblin brings with him an extensive background in hotel operations, development and management. Most recently he was president and COO of Dolce International. Prior to joining Dolce International, Mr. Giblin served five years as president and chief executive officer of Newmarket International, the developers of the hospitality industry's first Windows-based sales automation system. Mr. Giblin previously worked for major hotel chains including Omni Hotels, where he held positions as senior vice president and director of operations, and Red Lion Hotels and Inns where he acted as executive vice president of sales and marketing and operations support for six years. He began his career in the hospitality industry with Marriott International in various sales and marketing positions.
Now as the leader of SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts, Mr. Giblin is well positioned to leverage his experience to expand the company. “I am here to grow this business. When I looked at this opportunity, I felt that SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts is in a stronger position for growth than most hotel companies,” says Giblin. “The hospitality industry has suffered tough times, but SilverBirch has weathered the storm well and is now ready to hit the ground running in 2010. Mr Giblin is an avid sportsman who plays competitive lacrosse - he played on a US National Team in the 2006 World Games in London, Ontario. He and his family have recently relocated to Vancouver, British Columbia from New York.
