HOTEL STAYS RAISE MONEY FOR CHARITY THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

Hotel company SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts aims to raise $150,000 for charities across Canada by donating a portion of holiday bookings.

VANCOUVER, BC (November 4, 2008) - Canadian hotels and resorts managed by SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts will once again be donating a portion of their holiday bookings to charities across the country through the Friends in Need program.

Starting December 20, for each night booked at a SilverBirch-managed hotel, $10 will go to local charities such as the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society, the Canadian Red Cross, the PEI Arthritis Society and Noël des Enfants for Société St-Vincent de Paul de Québec, to name a few.

Launched in 2000, the Friends in Need program includes all SilverBirch Hotels & Resort properties across Canada, including Ramada, Radisson, Best Western, Hilton and Crowne Plaza hotels. Holiday season rates range from $79.00 - $160.00 per night for standard guest rooms. To date, the program has raised close to $730,000. This year, the program has been extended to include all rooms booked during the promotion, allowing for a more aggressive fundraising target of $150,000.

The annual Friends in Need program is part of SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts' Hotels with Heart initiative. This also includes annual scholarships in each region, educational internship programs with culinary and hospitality training schools and implementation of the Hotel Association of Canada's Green Key ECOmmodation program.
