Radisson Hotel Edmonton South holds public celebration to showcase $5.3 million renovations and new branding

EDMONTON, AB (October 21, 2008) - The ribbon was officially cut today as the Radisson Hotel Edmonton South, located at 4440 Gateway Boulevard, celebrated a grand opening following a $5.3-million renovation for this newly branded hotel.

Edmonton Mayor Stephen Mandel cut the ribbon to officially open the hotel, and general manager Robin Cumine joined the mayor to celebrate Radisson's long-awaited debut in the city. The celebration continued with an open house for business, tourism and hospitality leaders, as well as corporate clients, who were welcomed to the hotel with site tours and a scavenger hunt with food and prizes.

The tours visited renovated guestrooms that feature the brand's custom-designed Sleep Number Beds by Select Comfort(TM). The beds use uniquely designed air chambers to provide a gentle cushion of support and can easily be adjusted to personal preference for comfort and firmness. Each bed is accessorized with upscale customized linens that include white 250-thread count sheets, plush feather and down sleeping pillows and cases and a luxurious duvet.

Guestrooms also feature new furniture, pullout sofabeds and coffee makers. Fresh, new curtains, lamps and lighting fixtures accent each room. State-of-the-art curved shower rods, deluxe showerheads and mirrors complete an entirely new look for the bathrooms. And all hallways have been re-vamped with the latest wallpaper, painted ceilings and brand new carpeting.

"I'm thrilled with the renovations and remarkable attention to detail," says Robin Cumine, general manager of Radisson Hotel Edmonton South. "The Radisson name and reputation will go a long way in helping us attract more conferences and tourists, and we look forward to the flow of business this hotel will bring into the city."

Nancy Johnson, executive vice president of franchise operations and development for Carlson Hotels Worldwide, is also excited about the new branding and renovations. "Edmonton is a prime destination for both business and leisure travelers," says Johnson. "We're so glad to have the Radisson Hotel Edmonton South expand our presence in the region and join the Carlson family of hotels."
