L'HÔTEL DES SEIGNEURS CONTINUES TO RECEIVE HONORS FOR ITS ENVIRONMENTAL EFFORTS
SAINT-HYACINTHE, QC (May 29, 2008) - The Hotel des Seigneurs has received another accolade for their environmental leadership, this time from their own peers.
SilverBirch, a leading Canadian hotel management company, which manages Hôtel des Seigneurs has awarded Jade Guilbert, Environment Manager at Hôtel des Seigneurs, 'Team Leader of the Year". Ms. Guilbert was selected from hundreds of associate nominees from SilverBirch's 32 Canadian hotels.
Since her arrival at the hotel in 2003, Ms.Guilbert has lead the hotel's Green Committee and hotel associates to work toward reducing the environmental impacts generated by the daily activities of the hotel. To date, the hotel has put many green practices in place which has diverted over 600 tons of residual materials from landfills, including 20,000 wine bottles and 35 tons of organic waste. Organic waste is used by the hotel for its compost, which is then used as fertilizer for the tropical gardens. Ms.Guilbert is also the creator of the Green meeting packages offered by Hôtel des Seigneurs. These packages, launched for the 2006 Quebec Agricultural Show, continue to gain popularity from the corporate business world.
Always in search of improving the environmental practices within the company, Ms. Guilbert has also taken a leadership role supporting other SilverBirch hotels in Quebec (Delta Québec, Delta Montréal, Hôtel Gouverneur Québec, Hôtel Tadoussac, Hilton Montréal Bonaventure) and Ontario (Crowne Plaza, Ottawa). Ms. Guilbert visits the CHIP properties and assists the Green Committee leaders with implementing their own environmental programs. Mr. Bill Churma, General Manager of Hôtel des Seigneurs said that"The passion demonstrated by Jade on a daily basis is really motivating for each and every one of the 325 employees of Hôtel des Seigneurs".
Hôtel des Seigneurs has been honoured several times for its environmental commitments. In 2005, they received the Conscientia, presented by the Conseil régional de l'environnement de la Montérégie (Regional Council for the Environment - Montreal and region). In 2006, the environmental Phénix Award, and in 2007 they were the winner of the Grand Prix du Tourisme de la Montérégie (Quebec Tourism - Montreal and Region).
