Saskatoon, SK, November 25, 2015 – Squaring off against seven of the city’s culinary best, Radisson Hotel Saskatoon’s Executive Chef Scott Torgerson took home Silver at the 10th anniversary celebration of the Gold Medal Plates culinary competition.
“Winning the Silver medal is a great honour,” says Chef Torgerson. “I share this achievement with my team at the Radisson Hotel Saskatoon and Aroma Resto Bar. Their continuous support allows us the time to prepare for competitions such as this.”
Chef Torgerson created a birch glazed pheasant with warm mousse of foie gras, assorted micro squash, fennel hay and roasted hazelnut with hemp heart. Helping to balance the flavours, the dish was paired with a Grand Reserve Chardonnay by Jackson-Triggs Okanagan Estates.

Judged by a panel of eight, each dish was awarded points based on visual presentation, texture, taste, wine compatibility, originality and wow factor. Visitors can experience Chef Torgerson’s award-winning culinary skills at the Radisson Hotel Saskatoon.
Founded in 2003, the Gold Medal Plates is an annual celebration of Canadian Excellence in cuisine, wine, the arts and athletic achievement. Every year, premier chefs across Canada compete for the gold, silver and bronze medal. Net proceeds from Gold Medal Plates are given to the Canadian Olympic Foundation which supports Olympic and Paralympic athletes and high performance programs. To date, the competition has raised over $9.7 million to support Canadian athletes.
