We are looking for a Room Attendant at the Residence Inn by Marriott Downtown Vancouver.

 It is a very exciting time to join the SilverBirch family. As the first venture with our new partner Marriott International, the Residence Inn by Marriott Downtown Vancouver is now open. Formerly known as Cascadia Hotel & Suites, the hotel has undergone a $25 million total renovation and has opened with both a new name and a brand-new look!

 In the role of Room Attendant, you will be responsible for the overall cleanliness of the Hotel’s Guest Rooms and Public Area with an objective to create 100% Guest & Associate Satisfaction. By providing genuine service and by exceeding guest expectations, you will assist the Hotel in achieving both financial and service goals. All service provided is expected to be consistent with the Hotel, SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts standards and Residence Inn by Marriott standards.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Clean assigned rooms: includes but is not limited to such tasks as making beds, dusting furniture, cleaning bathrooms, kitchens, vacuuming carpets and spot cleaning of carpets and fabrics, immediate entry areas, patios, glass doors and windows
  • Operate housekeeping equipment in the correct and safe manner, including but not limited to garbage and recycling disposals, vacuums, cooktops, fridges and dishwashers
  • Maintain and restock housekeeping cart each day following standard procedures
  • Know and be able to carry out hotel emergency procedures including emergency evacuation, guest or employee injury and reporting safety and security issues
  • Report immediately any unusual situations in the guest suites, including unreported pets, damage, parties in the suite, usually dirty suites or a vacant suite when the room is thought to be occupied
  • Responsible for the proper administration of key control for issued keys, or keys left by guests in suites
  • Bag and tag all lost and found items and bring to Housekeeping Manager, for logging and storage
  • Accommodate guest special requests courteously
  • Communicate maintenance work orders in a timely manner
  • Able to service required number of suites within the designated time
  • Maintain uniform and grooming standards
  • Punch in room status updates via telephone as they are serviced
  • Understand proper and safe use of cleaning chemicals
  • Know and be able to carry out hotel emergency procedures including emergency evacuation, evacuation, guest and employee injury and reporting safety and security issues
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Skills & Qualities:

  • Exceptionally strong guest service skills to ensure superior guest service
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion and drive to work and excel in the Hospitality Industry
  • Able to multi-task and meet deadlines; time-management skills
  • Team-player who is able to recognize the value of guests and associates
  • Schedule flexibility required: be able to work various shifts, including morning, afternoons and weekends
  • Previous experience in cleaning and sanitation an asset
  • Knowledge in WHMIS an asset, but will be trained
  • Maintain a high level of professional appearance, demeanor and ethics; neat in appearance; personal and approachable
