We are looking for a Hotel Manager for the Homewood Suites by Hilton® and Hampton Inn by Hilton™ Halifax, NS (opening spring 2014).

Reporting to the General Manager, the Hotel Manager will be responsible for bringing your own style and passion to every experience and exemplifying the goals, strategies and values that enliven the hotel’s operations.  We are seeking a dynamic, ambitious and self-motivated individual who will maximize customer satisfaction and hotel profitability.  This position will be responsible for short and long term planning and the management of all hotel operations in order to achieve superb financial results while demonstrating superior leadership skills. You will be the chief champion and strategist that consistently leads the development and execution of strategies.  You will be a hands-on professional with a passion for quality and excellence.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develops an operating budget and forecasting for all departments while ensuring budget goals are attained
  • Directly manages the hotel staff on a daily basis
  • Manages expenses and maximizes revenues to be competitive
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on industry best practices/trends, service and technology
  • Must possess a passion for detail be comfortable in excelling in a high volume, vibrant and engaging and stressful operation
  • Ability to seek out new experiences that can add value and delight to the hotels’ operations
  • Proven skills to create processes that frame exceptional and consistent experiences in a multi-departmental setting and in a branded hotel environment
  • Ensures that all standard operating procedures for revenue and cost control are in place and consistently utilized
  • Leads, manages and mentors all employees to ensure professional development, superior customer service and all standards are met
  • Inspects all departments to ensure that all safety, sanitation, energy management, preventative maintenance and other standards are met
  • Ensure proper scheduling and coverage for the hotel
  • Monitor preventative maintenance program and participate in weekly property walkthroughs
  • Establishes quantity & quality output standards for all employees
  • Addresses guest concerns and advises the General Manager where appropriate.

Preferred Education & Qualifications:

  • University/College Diploma in Hospitality or Hotel Management; achievement of a Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) designation is preferred
  • 4-5 years senior hotel management experience required
  • Extensive knowledge of Rooms Division is required
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of POS systems, Stock Control Systems, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must possess high motivational skills with the ability to lead with little supervision
  • Detail oriented with a strong commitment to guest satisfaction
  • Experience in staff scheduling and recruitment
  • Must be a self- starter with excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Must be available for all shifts including weekends and statutory holidays
  • Proven experience with budgets including strategies for revenue management
  • Food Safe and Serving it Right Certification required
