Three new hotels’ continuous commitment to sustainability earns them GreenLeaders™ recognition

Saskatoon, SK, February 4, 2015 – Radisson Hotel Saskatoon’s Executive Chef Scott Torgerson and Executive Sous Chef Chris Corkum warmed the hearts of guests and judges at the 2015 Saskatoon Wintershines Soup Cook-off with their roast corn soup and took home the Judge’s Choice and People’s Choice Awards.

The Saskatoon Wintershines Soup Cook-off at PotashCorp WinterShines is an annual event where professional chefs from Saskatoon come to serve a warm bowl of tasty soup for a great cause – all proceeds from the event go towards supporting the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Radisson Hotel Saskatoon Wins Soup Cook OffThis is the third year Radisson Hotel Saskatoon has participated in the soup cook-off. This year, Chefs Torgerson and Corkum put their skills and creativity into a tasty bowl of roast corn soup that featured smoked chicken from the local Pine View Farm. It earned the People’s Choice Award for receiving the most votes for overall favourite soup and the Judge’s Choice Award for its originality, creative use of local ingredients, presentation and excellent taste.

“This year’s competition was tough, but Chef Corkum and I were able to put forth our creativity and highlight local ingredients in the roasted corn soup,” says Executive Chef Scott Torgerson. “It’s an honour to receive both the People’s Choice and Judge’s Choice Awards and we hope to continue this success in next year’s competition.”

The winning roasted corn soup will be featured on the menu at Radisson Hotel Saskatoon’s Aroma Mediterranean Resto Bar for a limited time only from February 16 to 21, 2015.
