We are looking for a Catering Consultant at the DoubleTree by Hilton™ Hotel & Conference Centre in Regina, Saskatchewan (opening late 2013).

It is a very exciting time to join the SilverBirch family with our new partner DoubleTree by Hilton™.   The hotel is currently undergoing a multi-million revitalization and will re-open in Fall 2013.  The innovative SilverBirch Conference Centre is perfect for your meetings and training sessions and our lounge and bar lets you relax after a long day. Our casually sophisticated restaurant, Wild Sage Kitchen and Grill, celebrates the farmer to Chef relationship with a menu inspired by the best ingredients available locally to create memorable food experiences.

Reporting to the Director of Sales, the Catering Consultant will achieve hotel revenue, profit and guest satisfaction goals by negotiating group catering and/or individual traveler business and maximizing event revenue by managing hotel meetings, conferences and social functions.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and initiate relationships with key clientele and initiating new revenue sources
  • Generate leads by proactively prospecting target accounts within a specific market segment
  • Manages hotel meetings, conferences and social functions from start to finish; Ensure set-up meets and/or exceeds customer expectations by working closely with planners to determine their needs
  • Prepare contracts for incoming catering clients and prepare proposals for potential clients
  • Sell other SilverBirch Hotel & Resorts properties when applicable and participate in SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts sales initiatives
  • Participate in trade shows and promotional events within the hotel and travel industry
  • Sets goals and standards while finding solutions that are beneficial to guests while meeting deadlines that are decisive and achievement oriented.

Preferred Education & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ catering & sales experience in the hospitality industry
  • College degree in Hotel Management/Business Administration an asset
  • Proven sales and public relations abilities
  • Experience in event planning/management
  • Ability to develop new revenue sources
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills including both written and verbal
  • Has an eye for detail and works well under pressure while meeting deadlines
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must be available to work all shifts including weekends and statutory holidays.
