Position: Accounting Clerk

We are looking for an Accounting Clerk at Fairfield Inn & Suites^® by Marriott in St. John’s.

It is a very exciting time to join the SilverBirch family with our new partner Fairfield Inn & Suites^® by Marriott.  Formerly known as The Travellers Inn St. John’s, the hotel is currently undergoing a $21 million complete revitalization and will re-open early 2013 with both a new name and a brand-new look!

Reporting to the Controller the Accounting Clerk is responsible for accounts receivable invoicing and collection as well as accounts payable.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Handles difficult guest inquiries effectively, demonstrating effective recovery of the guest and problem resolution.
• Researches declined bank cards and other credit card charge backs for justification and validity.
• Assists in various month end processes including account reconciliation, Food & Beverage inventories and final monthly closings of the accounts receivable system.
• Tracks daily cash deposits and balances credit card statements.
• Oversees all float allocations and distributions including regular float counts.
• Provides timely mailing of statements to customers with recent activity.
• Creates invoices, bills and other routine financial statements.
• Enters vendor invoices for processing ensuring timely payment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Education & Qualifications:

• Possess Diploma/Certificate in business accounting
• Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a computerized Accounting position
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and Power Point
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Proven ability to maintain confidentiality
• Strong detail orientation and follow-through abilities
